Ford has announced a recall for certain 2013 Ford vehicles after thirteen reports of overheating and engine fires. Certain 2013 Escape and 2013 Fusion vehicles equipped with 1.6L turbocharged Eco-boost engines could experience elevated engine temperatures resulting in fluid leaks and a potential fire. Ford warns drivers to immediately pullover, turn off and get out of the vehicle if the engine overheat message flashes on their instrument panel. They are advising owners to stop driving their vehicles and contact their dealer or Ford to arrange for alternate transportation.

The recall is expected to affect 73,320 2013 Escape and 15,833 2013 Fusion SE and SEL models in North America. Owners wanting more information about the problem may contact Ford Motor Company Customer Relationship Center at 1-866-436-7332.

This is the third time the 2013 Ford Escape has been recalled for fires. It was recalled for a fuel line leak at the end of July and for a coolant leak at the beginning of September, both of which could lead to an engine fire.

The 2013 Ford Fusion was just awarded green car of the year at this years Los Angeles Auto Show.
