Ford has announced that they will be extending the warranty on MyFord Touch and MyLincoln Touch Infotainment systems, giving owners extra time to upgrade their software.

Last year, Ford suffered poor quality ratings after consumers complained about the infotainment system. Ford responded with improvements in usability and hope that the warranty extension will ensure all owners will be able to upgrade to the newest version. According to Ford spokesman, Alan Hall, “It is about making our customers confident that they will be receiving ongoing software upgrades as we continue to evolve the software”

The warranty on Ford systems will be extended to five years with unlimited mileage, and for Lincoln systems will increase to six years and unlimited mileage. The extension will include all 2011, 2012 and 2013 models.
