Subaru has issued two recalls for a small number of 2012 Subaru Outback and 2012 Subaru Legacy vehicles manufactured between April 6, 2011 through May 12, 2011.

The first recall is for components inside the wiper motor bottom cover. Obstructions in the windshield wiper cowl area could cause the wiper arms to be forced into “park at a higher position than intended. If this happens, the wiper arms will continuously attempt to return the arms to the normal position resulting in components within the assembly to develop high electrical resistance. The system could overheat and melt posing a potential risk of a fire. Subaru is warning owners to keep the cowl area clear until the recall can be performed.

The second recall involves certain vehicles equipped with moonroofs. The glass panel in the vehicle’s moonroof may not have sufficient adhesive applied to its frame during manufacturing. The glass panel could separate from its frame and could detach unexpectedly startling the occupants or cause a road hazard to other drivers on the road. Subaru is asking owners to leave the moonroof in the fully closed position until the problem can be fixed, and if the glass is already loose, to not operate the vehicle and immediately contact a Subaru dealer for assistance.

Owners wanting more information about the problem may contact Subaru at 1-800-782-2783.
