BMW have announced a recall for certain 2007-2010 X5 Sport Activity Vehicle (SAV) vehicles, manufactured between September 12, 2006 to March 18, 2010 and equipped with an 8-cylinder engine. According to the recall report, the brake vacuum pump could leak a small amount of lubricating oil back into the brake hose resulting in contamination of the system. The contamination could result in a loss of power assist braking and an increase in stopping distance. BMW dealers will correct the problem by replacing the brake vacuum line with one that contains a check valve. Owners wanting more information about the problem can call BMW at 1-800-525-7417 or email BMW at CustomerRelations@bmwusa.com.
