Chrysler will be recalling approximately 143,000 Jeep and Dodge vehicles to repair problems that could result in random warning light illuminations and instrument cluster blackouts.

The first recall involves certain 2014 Grand Cherokees. After investigating reports of random warning light illuminations and instrument cluster blackouts that corrected themselves when the vehicle was cycled off and on, engineers discovered a glitch in the anti-lock braking system module that affected the cluster display. According to Chrysler, the problem could affect the anti-lock brakes and electronic stability control systems, but they are not aware of any problems involving either. Chrysler will update the instrument-cluster and ABS module software

Chrysler will also be recalling certain Ram light duty and heavy duty pickups to repair the instrument panel back lighting. The problem was discovered in the assembly plant so most of the vehicles are still at dealerships. Chrysler will update the instrument cluster to correct the error.

Owners wanting more information about either lighting problem can call contact Chrysler at 1-800-853-1403.
