BMW is recalling certain 2008 through 2010 5-Series passenger cars because they could experience intermittent or permanent loss of functionality of one or more of the rear lamp functions. Approximately 134,100 vehicles could be affected by the recall. The NHTSA Campaign Number is 13V-407.

The combination of aging vehicles, environmental influences, and the materials used in the bulb carrier’s connector and housing, could result in an increased resistance at the electrical contact points. The ground terminal and housing of the connector could become damaged resulting, an intermittent or permanent loss of functionality of one or more rear lamp functions (tail, brake, turn-signal, reverse).
