Lotus USA is expanding a recall on certain 2011 Evora supercharged vehicles manufactured between September 2010 – September 2011 and quipped with a manual transmissions, because of a problem that could result in an engine fire. Approximately 5,000 vehicles were recalled in October 2012 for a similar problem. This second recall will affect another 80 vehicles. (NHTSA Campaign Number: 13V314000)

According to the recall report, the vehicles are equipped with a three piece oil feed pipe with a flexible hose. The engine mounted oil feed pipe hose could chafe and rupture resulting in loss of engine oil. Oil could be ejected onto the road and over the rear wheels causing a reduction in vehicle control and a potential engine fire.

Lotus will be notifying owners and dealers of the problem and will replace and secure the oil feed pipe free of charge. For more information about the problem, owners may contact Lotus at 1-800-245-6887.
