Nissan is recalling approximately eight thousand 2014 Nissan Versa Note vehicles manufactured between April 23, 2013 and July 05, 2013 because of defective bolts installed on the rear seats and under tightened or missing lower body bolts. Both problems could make the vehicle less safe during an accident.

According to the recall report filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the rear seat latch bolts may have been manufactured incorrectly causing them to lose significant strength. In the event of an accident, the rear seat latch bolts could break and the seat backs could collapse, increasing the risk of injury to occupants. Also, some rear sill bolts might be missing or were not installed tightly enough. (Sill bolts are part of a series of bolts and welds that keep the whole body structure rigid in a crash.)

Owners receiving a recall letter will be asked to take their vehicles to their nearest Nissan dealer to have the rear seat latch bolts replaced. For more information about the problem contact Nissan at 1-800-647-7261. (NHTSA Campaign Number: 13V326000 and 13V324000 )
