Ford will be recalling certain 2013 Ford and 2013 Lincoln vehicles because the child locks could deactivate with repeated door openings and closings. Approximately 12,569 vehicles in the United States are affected by this recall.

According to the recall report, certain vehicles may have been built with child safety locks that were manufactured with an improperly formed component. The defective component could cause low retention torque for the child safety lock assembly allowing it to unexpectedly deactivate with sufficient door openings and closings. Owners will be notified by mail and instructed to take their vehicle to a Ford or Lincoln dealer to have the child safety locks tested and, if necessary, the rear door latch replaced. For more information about the problem contact the Ford customer relationship center at 1-866-436-7332.
