Toyota will be recalling certain 2007-2013 FJ Cruiser vehicles due to problems with the access door panels that anchor the front seat belts. The retractors for the front driver and passenger seat belts are mounted in the access door panels of the vehicle. Because of insufficient strength, cracks could develop with repeated and forceful closing of the door. The cracks could lead to the retractor becoming detached, leaving occupants unprotected during an accident. Toyota is currently working on a remedy for this problem which is expected to affect approximately 209,000 vehicles. Owners wanting more information about the recall can contact Toyota at 1-800-331-4331.
