Nissan will be recalling approximately twenty thousand 2012-2013 Nissan NV vehicles equipped with steering column mounted transmission shift levers. Due to a manufacturing error, the transmission lever gear selector plate lock clip may have been installed incorrectly. Over time, normal road vibrations could cause the clip to move out of position allowing the transmission cable to move out of position. If this happens, the shift lever will not match the actual gear position which could lead to the vehicle rolling away unexpectedly. Owners of potentially affected vehicle will be notified and asked to take their vehicles to a Nissan dealer to have the vehicle inspected and the clip installed correctly where necessary. Owners wanting more information about the problem can contact Nissan Customer Service at 1-800-647-7261.
