Chrysler has announced a recall for certain 2003-2004 Dodge Viper vehicles manufactured between November 01, 2001 to June 30, 2004. A problem with a capacitor in the airbag control module cause the front airbags and/or seat belt pretensioners to deploy while the vehicle is being operated. Drivers may notice the airbag warning lamp and/or chime activate shortly before the airbags deploy. Owners receiving a recall notice will be asked to take their vehicles to the nearest dealership to have an in line jumper harness with an integrated electrical noise filter installed, intended to perform the function of the existing capacitor. For more information about the problem, owners may contact Chrysler at 1-800-247-9753.
