Nissan has filed a defect notice with the NHTSA for an electrical problem affecting certain 2012-2014 Frontier trucks. Nissan will be asking 13, 535 owners to return their automobiles to a manufacturer approved repair facility to have their trucks inspected and repaired as necessary. The NHTSA Campaign Number is 14V-052.

According to the recall report, a circuit breaker was installed incorrectly by an operator during assembly at the Canton, MS plant. The incorrect orientation of the breaker could cause the main wire harness to come in contact with a metal bolt located on the A-pillar. If the bolt wears through the wire harness covering, it could short circuit, overheat and melt. If this occurs, the power seat and sunroof functions may be disabled and the battery may discharge.

Nissan will notify dealers to inspect the circuit breaker for damage and proper orientation. If the wire cover is damaged, the dealer will repair the harness using vinyl tape. If the wire is damaged, the dealer will replace or repair the main harness assembly. Owners wanting more information about the problem can contact Nissan at 1-800-647-7261.
