A recent investigation by Channel 2 Action News in Atlanta, has found that millions of potentially dangerous recalled tires are still being sold in stores across the United States.

The investigation uncovered tires that could dated back as far as 2000, when Ford and Firestone recalled approximately 2.8 million Firestone Wilderness AT’s because of a high incidence of failure. It is estimated that over 250 deaths and more than 3,000 serious injuries resulted from these tire problems.

According to consumer advocates, the recall system for tires is broken and the lives of drivers are being put a risk. They estimate that in the last decade 4.5 million tires have been recalled with less than one million recovered.
