Nissan is recalling certain 2013 Infiniti JX and 2013 Nissan Pathfinder vehicles because the front brake torque member may have been improperly cast. During the front brake torque member casting process, molten iron overflow from one mold to the other partially filled the mold cavities and began to cool. When hot iron was poured into the remaining opening in the cavities, it did not fuse properly. The structural weakness could lead to premature cracking and failure, resulting in the brake caliper moving and contacting the inside of the road wheel resulting in reduced braking and an increased risk of an accident. Dealers will inspect the manufacturing date of the torque members and replace them as necessary. Owners wanting more information about the brake problem can contact Nissan Customer Service at 1-800-647-7261.
