Nissan is conducting a safety campaign on a small number of 2014 Nissan Leaf EV’s after a routine quality inspection found a vehicle that was missing several front member welds. Vehicles with several structure welds out of specification fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) No. 208; Occupant Crash Protection, and FMVSS No. 305; Electric-powered vehicles: electrolyte spillage and electrical shock protection.

According to reports filed with the NHTSA, the missing welds may affect the integrity of the vehicle and increase the risk of injury to occupants during an accident. Owners will be asked to return their vehicles to a dealer for inspection and repair as necessary. Nissan recall number is PC272 and the NHTSA campaign number is 14V-192. For more information about the problem, owners can contact Nissan at 1-800-647-7261.
