Honda is encouraging owners of certain 2014 Odyssey minivans to bring their vehicles in for repairs because of an electrical problem that could result in the passengers side airbag not deploying during an accident. The issue was discovered during warranty repairs and there have been no reports of incidents or injuries related to the problem.

During assembly of the passengers side airbag, it is possible that the electrical coupler shorting terminal used to prevent deployment of the airbag before it is assembled into the vehicle, may have been damaged. A damaged shorting terminal could result in an illuminated supplemental restraint system (SRS) warning indicator as well as prevent the side curtain airbag from deploying during a crash. Passengers in the vehicle will have an increased chance of injury during an accident if the problem is not repaired.

Side Curtain Airbag Connector kits (P/N 06531-TK8-000) are being sent to all dealers to cover all unsold units and a revised message indicating parts availability will be issued when additional kits are received. Owners wanting more information about the electrical issue can contact Honda at 1-800-999-1009. Honda’s number for this recall is JE2 and the NHTSA campaign number is 14V-175.
