General Motors will be contacting owners of certain 2013-2014 Cadillac XTS full size sedan about a defect relating to motor vehicle safety and the booster pump relay connector. Owners will be notified by GM to return their cars to the nearest manufacturer approved repair facility to have the problem corrected.

According to reports filed with the NHTSA, pressure within the brake booster pump harness could dislodge the brake booster pump cavity connector. Contaminants could enter the connector, causing corrosion, an increase in resistance, and a possible automobile fire.

To correct the problem, dealers will apply sealant to the connector cavity plugs, re-route the vacuum pump vent hose, and replace the front body wiring harnesses as needed. Owners wanting more information about the problem can contact Cadillac at 1-866-982-2339. GM’s recall number is 14062 and the NHTSA campaign number is 14V-116.
