Is your 2013 Ford F150 pickup experiencing reduced power during hard acceleration?

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) have opened a preliminary evaluation (PE13-018) to investigate 95 reports alleging reduced engine power during hard acceleration in certain 2011 through 2013 Ford F150 trucks equipped with 3.5L gasoline turbocharged direct injection (GTDI) engines.

Ford has already investigated the potential for water accumulation in the charge air cooler (CAC) under specific driving conditions and its effect on vehicle performance during hard acceleration. Based on their evaluations, Ford has implemented a series of service actions to address the issue. They say that a vehicle experiencing a momentary reduction in engine power due to a cylinder misfire from water ingestion, will continue to maintain its speed and an acceptable acceleration.

There have been no crashes related to the problem but many complaints allege safety concerns associated when trying to pass other vehicles.
