Toyota will be recalling approximately ten thousand 2013 and 2014 model sedans for faulty windshield wiper switches that could short and leave drivers without windshield wipers.

According to Toyota, certain terminal contacts on the switch may have been manufactured incorrectly, resulting in a short when the wiper switch is moved from the “Off” position to the “Mist” position. The short can cause the windshield wipers to stop working completely affecting the drives visibility and increasing the chances of an accident. The vehicles involved in the recall include:

  • 2013-2014 Camry
  • 2013-2014 Camry Hybrid
  • 2013 Avalon
  • 2013 Avalon Hybrid
  • 2014 Corolla

Owners of the affected Toyota vehicles will be notified by mail to return their vehicles to a Toyota dealer to have the wiper switch replaced. More information is available by calling the Toyota Customer Experience Center at 1-800-331-4331.
