Mazda will notify owners of certain 2007-2012 Mazda CX-7 crossover SUVs about a problem affecting the suspension of their vehicles. According to the defect report, water could enter the front ball joint fittings, creating an environment for corrosion. The ball joint could separate from the lower control arm result in loss of steering control.

Those receiving notices will be asked to return to their dealerships to have both front lower control arms replaced. Because parts are not currently available, Mazda will send interim notices to owners with a follow-up notice when remedy parts are available. Owners wanting more information about the problem are asked to contact Mazda customer service at 1-800-222-5500. Mazda’s number for this recall is 9716H and the NHTSA campaign number is 16V-593.
