General Motors will be asking owners of certain Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, and GMC vehicles to return to their dealership to repair a problem that could leave the front seat occupant unprotected during an accident.

Some vehicles may have been manufactured with an incomplete weld on the seat hook bracket assembly for both front seats. If the assembly is exposed to a high load condition, the hook could separate from the seat track, increasing the risk of injury to occupants.

The vehicles affected by this recall include:

  • 2013-2014 Buick Encore
  • 2013-2014 Cadillac ATS
  • 2014 Cadillac CTS
  • 2014 Cadillac ELR
  • 2014 Chevrolet Caprice
  • 2014-2015 Chevrolet Silverado
  • 2014 Chevrolet SS
  • 2014-2015 GMC Sierra

Owners wanting more information about the problem can phone GM customer service at 1-800-521-7300 (Buick), 1-800-458-8006 (Cadillac), 1-800-222-1020 (Chevrolet), and 1-800-462-8782 (GMC). GM’s number for this recall is 14340 and the NHTSA campaign number is 14V-446.
