General Motors have decided that a defect related to vehicle safety exists in certain 2014 Chevrolet Corvette vehicles. The problem was first discovered while conducting static torque checks on cars at the Bowling Assembly facility.

An improper weld on the rear shock absorbers could result in the separation of the absorber tube from the shock absorber clevis bracket. This sudden separation could result in a sudden change in vehicle handling that could startle drivers, increasing the risk of an accident.

GM will notify owners to take their vehicles to their nearest dealer to have both of the rear shock absorber replaced free of charge. For more information about the problem, contact Chevrolet customer service at 1- 800-222-1020. GM’s number for this recall is 14302 and the NHTSA campaign number is 14V377.
