A former client from Chino Hills, CA contacted us recently about his 2010 Jaguar XF. He was very pleased with the outcome of a previous case we had handled for him with a different manufacturer.

He had leased this Jaguar in April, 2010, which soon thereafter developed an engine noise and a coolant leak. After a reasonable number of repair attempts the dealer was still unable to fix the vehicle. Our former client then contacted us for help in obtaining a repurchase and reimbursement under the California lemon law.

After filing our demand for repurchase Jaguar agreed to buy the vehicle back under the California lemon law and agreed to pay to our client his down payment, plus all of his monthly payments, minus the mileage deduction allowed under the law. Jaguar also paid off the balance of the lease and our attorney’s fees.

Jaguar will be recalling certain 2010 XK and XF sports cars, built between June 2009 to March 2010, for corrosion issues that could lead to a power steering fluid leak. According to Jaguar, the zinc-nickel plating on the steering lines may not have the proper corrosion protection. As a result, the pressurized steering fluid could start leaking in the engine area leading to loss of steering and a potential fire.

Dealers will replace the defective steering fluid lines with line that have been properly treated to prevent corrosion. Owners wanting more information on this recall can contact Jaguar at 1-800-452-4827.

In a recall that will affect only about 3,000 vehicles, Land Rover will be asking owners to bring in their 2010-2011 LR2 Suv’s for an intermittent problem with the driver’s side airbag. The vehicles affected were manufactured between November 2009 and August 2010. According to a report filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) the problem is with the shorting bar in the clock spring. The shorting bar may have been disconnected when the airbag module was installed leading to the airbag not deploying properly or at all. Owner with questions or concerns can contact Land Rover Customer Service Center at 1-800-346-3493 (1-800-FIND 4WD).

In March of 2008, when Tata Motors purchased Jaguar and Land Rover from Ford, some feared the sale would alienate the typical Jaguar owner. Based on early sales figures, this just isn’t true.

The XJ model has been one of the best sellers for Jaguar since it was introduced in 1968. Over the years the car has undergone major redesigns, but never really strayed far from the original model. The new 2011 XJ model is said to have a “wow factor that has smitten those who thought the XJ model had become too old school.”

“We are trying to bring the word ‘sleek’ back to Jaguar styling,” said Ian Callum, chief designer.

  • The dashboard has been redesigned nine inches lower, giving the cabin a roomy feeling.
  • The new interior is one of the most elegant in the industry, with soft grain leather trimmed with choice wood or carbon fiber.
  • The mechanical components of the XJ is basically the same as its predecessor, but with key refinements.
  • The exterior still has the same luxurious Jaguar look, but with a thoroughly modern design.

It seems that the transition of Jaguar from Ford to Tata motors has been a smooth one. With the help of Ford, Jaguar continues to offer the luxury and design their customers expect.
