Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) have determined that a safety defect exists in certain cars and crossover SUV’s equipped with 4B1 engines. after an investigation into complaints of worn pulley’s found during regular inspections.

Due to an inappropriate material used to manufacture the drive belt, the resin pulley could wear obliquely. If the vehicle continues to be driven under these conditions, the belt could become damaged and detach completely. (If this happens, drivers will be alerted by an engine warning lamp illumination.) Drive belt detachment may result in depletion of the battery and an overheated engine which could cause a stall. Certain 2008-2011 Mazda Tribute vehicles built at the Kansas City Assembly Plant between October 2006 to September 2010 could be affected by a problem that could lead to loss of power steering assist. Mazda will be sending notices sometime in July, but are encouraging drivers experiencing issue with their steering to return their vehicle to a manufacturer approved dealer to have repairs done as soon as possible. According to reports filed with the NHTSA, approximately 33,000 vehicles in the United States and its territories are potentially affected. Continue reading

Jaguar Land Rover North America have filed several non compliance reports with the NHTSA and will be asking owners of certain Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles to return to an authorized dealer for repairs.

The first problem involves 2013-2014 Jaguar XF, XJ, and XK vehicles. Reports filed with the NHTSA state that during prolonged aggressive driving with frequent lateral and braking force, it is possible for the rear toe link to separate from the rear sub frame. Once separated, the orientation of the rear wheels could be affected, compromising stability and directional control. The problem can significantly increase the risk of an accident. Dealers will replace the nut and washer assembly on the rear toe links, free of charge. Jaguar’s number for this recall is J037 and the NHTSA campaign number is 14V-157. Continue reading

General Motors has decided that a defect relating to steering exists in certain Chevrolet , Pontiac, and Saturn vehicles. Vehicles that were repaired under safety recall 10023 (10V-037) are not included unless they were repaired prior to May 31, 2010. Vehicles that were repaired under special coverage bulletins 10183 and 10187 are not included as well. Continue reading

Drivers of certain 2012-2013 Toyota sedans could experience unexpected airbag warning lights and the possible loss of power steering assist function, due to water from the air conditioning condenser unit leaking onto the vehicles airbag control module. According to an announcement on Toyota’s website, approximately 803,000 vehicles could be affected by this problem. Continue reading
