Hyundai And Kia Report Airbag Problems

Hyundai is recalling some 2007-2008 Veracruz and 2007-2008 Santa Fe vehicles for a problem with the drivers side air bag. In the report filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Hyundai said that over time, the clock spring contact assembly in the system could develop a high resistance. Kia has also reported problems with air bags in some 2007-2008 Sorento cars. The problem is being blamed on the programming of the occupant classification system (OCS). The system is set up to turn the air bags off when there is a child stitting in the seat. GM Recalls 2011 Cadillac SRX For Air Bags

General Motors has announced a recall for certain 2011 Cadillac SRX crossover vehicles for failing to meet the requirements of the vehicle safety standards for occupant crash protection. The problem is being blamed on a programing error that turns off the right side roof rail airbag if the passenger sensing system does not sense that the front passenger seat is occupied. Safety standards state that in the event of an accident, the front passenger seat airbag should deploy to protect the rear occupant. Volvo Recalls S60 For Fuel Issues

Volvo has announced a recall that will affect some 2012 S60 passenger cars manufactured between November 2010 to May 2011. The fuel pump software may not be compatible with the installed fuel pump resulting in insufficient fuel transfer in the pump unit. In 2009 Volvo has issued recalls for their 2010 XC60, 2009-2010 XC70, and 2008-2010 S80 models for similar problem with the fuel pump and the fuel pump software.

Nissan Leaf Electric Car Experiences Restart Problems

Complaints of starting issues for the Nissan Leaf has prompted an investigation into the electronics of this all electric car. The problem has been traced back to the Leaf’s air conditioning unit, but it is not known if it is a defective component or a problem with the programming of the system. Because the safety of the vehicle is not affected, the decision to issue a recall will not be made until the source of the problem has been identified.
