Certain 2015 Hyundai Sonata vehicles are being recalled by the automobile manufacturer because of a poor connection within the vehicle’s wiring harness. During manufacturing, the pin socket in one of the vehicles main wiring harness could have been slightly deformed affecting the Chassis’ Controller Area Network circuit continuity. The circuit could become intermittent or open, causing the illumination of the instrument cluster’s indicator lamp, inability to remove the vehicle’s shifter from the park postilion, or a reduction in steering assist. The problem will require the driver to use greater steering effort and could increase the risk of an accident. Continue reading

An investigation into overheating window vent switches on some 2010-2014 Chrysler Town and Country and 2010-2014 Dodge Grand Caravan minivans will have owners returning their vehicles to have repairs done. The investigation began in early October 2012, after the automobile manufacturer identified seven warranty claims in which the vent switches were replaced because they had melted. There have been no reports of accidents or injuries related to the issue, but as of April 2014, Chrysler has identified approximately 36 reports of the problem. Continue reading

A safety defect on certain 2014 Cadillac CTS sedans will have owners retuning their vehicles to a manufacturer approved repair facility to have them fixed. The problem was first noticed at the beginning of this year, after GM received warranty claims from customers who said they experienced reduced driver visibility due to an inoperative windshield wiper system. An increase in warranty claims on certain 2012-2013 Volkswagen Passat cars has resulted in the automobile manufacturer identifying an issue with the headlights. They will notifying owners of the affected vehicles with instructions to make an appointment with an authorized dealer to have the problem repaired. Owners of certain 2011-2012 Dodge Charger cars will be contacted by Chrysler to return their vehicles to a manufacturer approved repair facility for a problem that could result in unexpected loss of headlights. The vehicles affected by this problem were manufactured between May 20, 2012 through November 8, 2011, and are equipped with halogen headlamps. Continue reading

Tesla has acknowledged a problem affecting certain Universal Mobile Connectors (“UMC”) NEMA 14-50 adapters used to charge Tesla Model S vehicles. According to the recall report, a variety of factors such as corrosion, physical damage to receptacles, or inappropriate installation of electrical outlets can cause higher than normal electrical resistance. Electrical resistance heating in the adapter or at the wall socket could lead to melting of the adapter, cord or wall receptacle. There is also the possibility of electrical arcing that could lead to fire. Continue reading
