Chrysler will be contacting approximately 1,500 owners of certain 2013 Dodge Durango sport utility vehicles (SUV) about a possible problem with their vehicles supplemental side curtain air bags. According to the report filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), certain vehicles may have been manufactured with the incorrect airbag occupant restraint control (ORC) module. The incorrect module could result in the vehicles supplemental side curtain airbags not deploying properly if the vehicle is hit from the side or to the rear of the second row seat. Chrysler will be contacting owners, starting next month, and will correct the problem by replacing the the ORC module free of charge. Lexus GS350 Steering Problem
Toyota will be recalling a small number of 2013 Lexus GS350 cars manufactured between December 12, 2011 to February 7, 21012. The Problem is with the programming for the variable gear ratio steering (VGRS) system. If the engine is restarted immediately after the vehicle has been parked and the steering wheel is turned, the steering wheel could become off centered. Off centered steering will result in an unexpected maneuver which could result in a crash. Toyota will notify owners who can take in their vehicles to have the VGRS system updated. VW Routan Rear Hub Assemblies
Volkswagen is recalling a small number of 2012 Routan minivans for a problem with the right hand rear hub and bearing assemblies. According to VW, the vehicles affected were built between November 15 to November 21, 2011, and were installed with a hub and bearing assembly that was not fully machined by the manufacturer. The assemblies could wear out prematurely, leading to wheel separation and an increased risk of an accident. Owners wanting more information on the problem can contact Volkswagen at 1-800-822-8987. BMW Turbo Engine Fire Problem
BMW has announced a recall that will affect certain vehicles equipped with 8 or 12 cylinder turbocharged engines. According to the recall report filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the circuit board for the electric auxiliary water pump could overheat and smolder, and could eventually lead to a fire in the engine compartment.
