Subaru will be asking the owners of certain 2015-2016 WRX and Forester vehicles to return to their dealerships to repair a problem affecting the turbocharger air intake duct. According to the defect report filed with the NHTSA, the manufacturer used the wrong material for a portion of the duct. The difference in material could result in cracking in that area and an engine stall. The problem could result in rough engine idling, reduced engine power, and the “Check Engine Light” may illuminate. Continue reading

2016 Kia Sorento Acceleration Problem
A defect affecting certain 2016 Kia Sorento vehicles could result in the illumination of the check engine light and/or electronic stability control indicator light. According to reports filed with the NHTSA, a capacitor on the accelerator pedal assembly may have been improperly soldered at the manufacturer. This problem could result in a fault code indicating the senor circuit is open or shorted, forcing the vehicle into Limp Home Mode or Forced Idle Mode. If this happens, the driver will be permitted only minimal vehicle acceleration, increasing the risk of an accident. Continue reading
2011 Kia Sorrento CA Lemon Law Buyback
The Law Offices of Delsack & Associates, P.C. recently helped the owner of a 2011 Kia Sorento obtain a vehicle buyback under the California Lemon Law. Prior to contacting us, he had given his dealership eight (8) opportunities to repair the defects and had complained to the service manager many times, but the vehicle was still not repaired. The defects included engine and other manufacturing non-conformities which caused the vehicle to stall under normal operating conditions and repeated problems with the ignition system and electrical system which would result in a no start condition and the check engine light to remain on. Mitsubishi Lancer & Outlander Drive Belt Wear
Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) have determined that a safety defect exists in certain cars and crossover SUV’s equipped with 4B1 engines. after an investigation into complaints of worn pulley’s found during regular inspections.
Due to an inappropriate material used to manufacture the drive belt, the resin pulley could wear obliquely. If the vehicle continues to be driven under these conditions, the belt could become damaged and detach completely. (If this happens, drivers will be alerted by an engine warning lamp illumination.) Drive belt detachment may result in depletion of the battery and an overheated engine which could cause a stall. Also, vehicle equipped with with hydraulic power steering could experience loss of steering assist. Continue reading
GM Chassis Electronic Module Short
General Motors have identified a defect relating to motor vehicle safety exists in certain Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, and GMC cars, trucks, minivans, and SUVs, after certain vehicles began displaying a check engine malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) during post production testing. After observing an increase in warranty claims, GM has decided to issue a recall to have the problem repaired. Continue reading
2010 Audi A4 CA Lemon Law Buyback
Under the California Lemon Law, if you are experiencing repeated problems with your car, truck, or SUV, you may qualify to have your automobile bought back by the manufacturer. You must, however, allow an approved repair facility a reasonable number of repair attempts before you qualify. This includes four repair attempts for the same or similar problems, or two attempts if the defect is safety related and likely to cause serious injury.

Camshaft Leaks Could Stall BMW Engines
BMW will be issuing notices to approximately 156,137 BMW car and SUV owners regarding a problem that could increase the chance of an accident due to unexpected engine stalls. Owners of approximately 170,172 model year 2010-2012 BMW vehicles equipped with inline 6 cylinder engines are not covered by this recall, but will receive extended warranties to address this condition. 2012 Volvo S60 Oil Pressure Sensor Problem
Volvo Cars of North America, LLC have reported a non compliance defect in certain 2011-2012 S60 cars equipped with 5 cylinder B5254T5 engines and manufactured between June 22, 2010 through May 14, 2012. The number of vehicles affected by the problem is estimated to be approximately 31,000. Volvo’s recall number is R29436 and the NHTSA Campaign Number is 13V-592. Continue reading
