General Motors will be asking owners of certain 2015 Chevrolet Corvette sports cars to return to their dealership for a defect that could affect safety. On some of these vehicles, the toe link outer ball joint may have not been fastened properly to the right rear suspension knuckle. A loose toe link could cause the rear suspension to make a loud metallic noises when turning corners or driving over bumps. Over time, the toe link could separate creating sudden vehicle instability. According to reports filed with the NHTSA, certain Nissan and Infiniti vehicles could experience reduced braking performance and/or steering control due to a manufacturing error. During the assembly process of the front wheel hub, the hub bolts, torque member bolts, and/or stopper bolts may have been under torqued or missing. Over time the brake caliper could separate from the wheel assembly causing reduced braking and steering control. Warning signs that there is a problem include unfamiliar noises and/or vibrations. During a routine inspection of certain 2015 Nissan Armada SUV’s, it was discovered that the transmission on certain vehicles may not fully engaging in the “Park” position. An investigation found that interference with the transmission housing was preventing the parking pawl from engaging completely and could result in the vehicle unexpectedly rolling away. A poorly placed ignition button will have owners of certain 2015 Lincoln MKC returning to their dealership to have the problem repaired. According to reports, the ignition button could be accidentally pressed as drivers reach to shift gears or use the dashboard touch screen. The engine may shut off while the vehicle is in motion, increasing the likelihood of an accident. There have been no reports of injury related to the problem, but two complaints by consumers on the NHTSA website say they have accidentally pushed the button and shut off the engine while driving. A manufacturing error will have some Porsche owners returning their vehicles to the dealership for repairs. According to reports, it is possible that the front hood upper lock components of certain 2014-2015 911, Boxster, and Cayman vehicles were not produced according to specifications. The hood could unexpectedly open while the vehicle is being driven, obstructing the drivers visibility and increasing the chance of an accident. Continue reading

General Motors will be asking owners of certain 2015 Chevrolet Colorado and 2015 GMC Canyon trucks to return to a dealer to repair a problem affecting the drivers airbag. The defect was discovered during routine diagnostic testing in which a GM technician found an incorrect diagnostic trouble code in the vehicle. An investigation discovered that the airbag connections were incorrectly manufactured, reversing the deployment sequence and timing of the driver airbag stages. Certain 2015 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV SUVs could fail to conform to the Federal Motor Vehicle Standard (FMVSS) for occupant crash protection. According to reports filed on the NHTSA website, the passenger side instrument panel top cover may have been manufactured with inadequate adhesion between the spacer fabric and the vinyl show surface. BMW will be asking approximately nine thousand sedan, crossover, and roadster owners to return their vehicles to a manufacturer repair facility for a safety defect that could result in the loss of oil supply to the vacuum pump. Due to an insufficient interference fit, the seal disk in the camshaft could move during engine operation, potentially restricting or blocking the oil supply holes. Over time, the pump could fail resulting in loss of power assist braking and an increased chance of an accident. (Even with loss of assist, the service brake control is able to stop the vehicle because affected vehicles meet the applicable FMVSS pertaining to conditions in which there is a loss of power assist braking.)
