2016 Dodge Dart Software Safety Defect

Chrysler will be contacting the owners of certain 2016 Dodge Dart vehicles about a software problem affecting vehicles with 2.0L engines and a manual transmission. Also included, are certain 2015 Dodge Dart vehicles similarly equipped and brought in for dealer service between September 15, 2015 and January 12, 2016.

According to the defect report filed with the NHTSA, these vehicles may be missing the second layer redundant torque security software in the powertrain control module. Without a backup layer of software, the control module may fail to prevent an un-commanded torque event which could increase the risk of an accident. (During an un-commanded torque event, the operator of the vehicle will still be able to override the problem through either the clutch and/or the service brakes.) Continue reading →

2016 Honda Civic Engine Could Seize Due To Manufacturing Error

Honda will be contacting the owners of certain 2016 Honda Civic vehicles equipped with 2.0L engines to notifying them of a manufacturing error that could result in a seized engine. According to the defect report, the piston assembly may have been built with a missing or misset piston pin circlip. Vibrations from the engine may cause the pis to become displaced and interfere with the engine cylinder wall. Mazda CX-5 Fuel Line Could Rupture

The owners of certain 2014-2016 Mazda CX-5 vehicles may be driving vehicles which fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 301, “Fuel System Integrity”. According to reports, these vehicles were manufactured with a fuel filler pipe that could, under certain impact crashes, rupture and spill fuel exceeding the limits allowed by the FMVSS. 2015 Chevy Colorado & GMC Canyon Steering Defect

A defect affecting steering safety will have the owners of certain 2015 Chevrolet Colorado and 2015 GMC Canyon trucks returning to their dealerships for repairs. The vehicles involved may have a torque sensor harness connector that was damaged during testing and could result in loss of electrical connection to the steering gear connector. If loss of connection occurs, power steering assist will be lost, a malfunction indicator light displays on the instrument panel and a chime sounds to inform the driver. Continue reading →

GM Truck Brake Pedal Problem

General Motors have announced a defect relating to motor vehicle safety exists in certain 2015-2016 Chevrolet and GMC trucks. According to reports filed with the NHTSA, the threads on the brake pedal pivot bolt may be too short to engage the locking feature of the nut. If the pedal loosens, the driver may not be able to stop the vehicle safely or the pedal could interfere with the accelerator. The driver may notice a change in brake pedal feel, the service engine soon light may illuminate, and/or the brake lights may stay on longer than expected. Continue reading →

2013-2015 Nissan Altima Repeated Repair Attempt

Nissan will be notifying the owners of certain 2013-2015 Altima‘s about a safety problem affecting the hood latch of their cars. According to reports, these vehicles have been previously repaired under recalls 14V-565 and 15V-116.

A manufacturing error affecting the hood latch assembly in some of the subject vehicles may result in poor paint adhesion to the latch. Over time exposed metal may corrode and cause mechanical binding that may result in the latch to remain in the open position. If the primary latch is inadvertently released and the secondary latch is not engaged, the hood could unexpectedly open while driving. Continue reading →

2016 Ferrari 488 GTB Low Pressure Fuel Line Leak

Ferrari will be contacting a small number of 2016 488 GTB owners about a problem affecting the low pressure fuel line in their vehicles. According to the defect report, an improper coating treatment could cause in the low pressure fuel line connection to leak during the engine start phase. Leaking fuel into the engine compartment could result in smoke and/or an engine fire. Continue reading →
