Honda will be asking a small number of 2014-2015 Honda Accord and 2015 Honda CR-V owners to return to their dealerships to fix a manufacturing error. According to the defect report, during assembly of the short block, it is possible that the automated system that verifies torque of the engine connecting rod bolts may not have identified improperly torqued bolts in a specific group of engines. The problem could result in the engine rattling and knocking, oil leaks, and loss of power. Loss of engine power may result in a vehicle stall and an increased risk of an accident. Also, if the engine leaks oil in the proximity of hot engine or exhaust components, there is an increased risk of a fire. Continue reading

GM Truck Transmission Oil Leaks
General Motors have identified a defect in certain Chevrolet and GMC trucks and SUV’s equipped with a 6-Speed Automatic Transmission. They are asking owners to return their vehicles to a manufacturer approved repair facility to have the problem fixed. GM’s recall number is 14121 and the NHTSA campaign number is 14V-152. Lotus Evora S Ruptured Oil Line
Lotus USA is expanding a recall on certain 2011 Evora supercharged vehicles manufactured between September 2010 – September 2011 and quipped with a manual transmissions, because of a problem that could result in an engine fire. BMW Possible Engine Failure
BMW will be contacting drivers of certain 2013 BMW M5 and 2013 BMW M6 coupe and convertibles high performance vehicles with twin turbocharged V8 engines. According to reports filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) certain vehicles may be equipped with an oil pump that may fail because of a problem with the manufacturing process. The oil pump drive shaft could separate from the rotor starving the engine of oil. If the vehicle is not pulled over immediately, the engine will overheat and eventually seize. BMW will be notifying customers of the the problem starting this month, and will replace the oil pump free of charge. Owners wanting more information may contact BMW at 1-800-525-7417.
Nissan Reports Oil Leak Problems
Nissan has announced that they will be recalling certain Nissan and Infiniti vehicles for oil cooler and oil filter bolts that may have been manufactured below specifications. If the bolts break, sever oil leaks could lead to a reduced engine oil pressure and eventually to a seized engine. Under the recall Nissan will replace the connector bolts on the following vehicles:
- 2011 Infiniti FX
- 2012 Infiniti M
- 2011-2012 Nissan Frontier
- 2011-2012 Nissan Xterra
- 2011-2012 Nissan Pathfinder
- 2012 Nissan NV
