Hyundai will be notifying owners of certain 2011-2012 Elantras, about a problem affecting the electronic stability control (ESC) system. According to reports filed with the NHTSA, the vehicles are equipped with an ESC system that utilized input signals from various sourced throughout the vehicle. One of these sensors could send a signal that results in (1) inadvertent ECS system intervention, (2) illumination of the ESC indicator lamp in the instrument cluster, and (3) a diagnostic code for the yaw sensor stored in the ESC control module. Chrysler will be asking a small number of 2015 RAM 4500 and 5500 owners to return to their dealership to repair a problem with the front suspension. According to reports filed with the NHTSA, the weld between the front upper control arm loop to the spacer may be inadequate. The condition could result in reduced front suspension stability and may affect vehicle control. Continue reading

Mazda will be notifying owners of certain 2007-2014 CX-9 crossover SUV’s to return to their dealership for repairs to the suspension system. The affected vehicles have front suspension ball joints that may experience water intrusion into the fitting. The fitting could corrode and the front lower control arm could separate from the joint causing a loss of steering control and an increased risk of an accident. Continue reading

Volkswagen Group of America will be notifying owners of certain 2011-2013 Jetta and 2012-2013 Beetle vehicles of a safety defect that could result in loss of vehicle control. According to reports filed with the NHTSA, the durability of the trailing arm on one or both rear axles could be reduced during a rear or side rear impact crash. If this problem is not correctly diagnosed and repaired it could lead to a sudden complete fracture of the trailing arm and an increased chance of an accident. Continue reading
