2017 Audi Q7 Loss Of Power Steering Assist

Volkswagen will be asking a small number of 2017 Audi Q7 owners to return to their dealerships to repair a problem affecting the power steering. According to the defect report, the silicone gel used to protect the ECU’s circuit board may not have hardened sufficiently and could allow particles to enter the area. The board could short circuit and result in loss of power steering assist. Drivers may experience an illuminated power steering warning light and a loss of power steering assist.

Dealers will correct the defect by replacing the steering rack. For more information about the problem, owners are asked to contact Audi customer service at 1-800-822-2834. Volkswagen’s number for this recall is 48M5 and the NHTSA campaign number is 16V-648.

2015 RAM 2500 & 3500 Reduced Steering Response

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) will be contacting the owners of certain 2015 RAM 2500 & 3500 trucks about a problem affecting the steering system. Some of these vehicles may have been built with inadequate front track bar frame bracket welds. If these welds brake, steering response will be reduced or lost. Drivers may experience an off center steering wheel prior to the failure.

Dealers will weld on a new track bar frame bracket or replace the frame of the vehicle. Owners wanting more information about the problem are asked to contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler’s number for this recall is S58 and the NHTSA campaign number is 16V-559.

2014-2015 Ford Explorer Rear Suspension Welds Could Break

Ford is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 Ford Explorer vehicles manufactured January 17, 2014 to May 31, 2014. According to the defect report filed with the NHTSA, the rear suspension toe links may have insufficient welds. GM Suspension Defect Could Result In Difficult Steering

General Motors has decided that a defect relating to vehicle safety exists in certain 2016-2017 Cadillac, Chevy and GMC trucks and SUVs, and will be asking owners to return to their dealership for repairs. According to the defect report, the welds on the front upper control arm near the bushings may be poor quality and could fail. 2015-2016 Ram 1500 Loss Of Power Steering

The owners of certain 2015-2016 Ram 1500 trucks could experience an unexpected loss of power steering assist. According to the defect report filed with the NHTSA, contamination to the top side of the Electric Power Steering (EPS) control circuit boards may result in a short of the control circuit components. Drivers could experience an illuminated Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL), difficult steering at slow speeds, and an intermittent or permanent loss of power steering assist without warning. Mercedes-Benz Smart ForTwo Steering Problem

Mercedes-Benz has determined that a steering defect affecting certain Smart ForTwo vehicles may exist. According to reports filed with the NHTSA, the steering gear bolts on the front cross steering member may have been manufactured outside of production specifications due to a production deviation at a supplier.
