A manufacturing error affecting certain 2014-2015 Acura MDX and MDX AWD vehicles will have approximately 106,439 owners returning to their dealership for repairs.

According to reports, during manufacturing of the A/C compressor clutch drive bolts, certain lots failed to receive the proper dielectric topcoat. As a result, the bolts are more susceptible to corrosion and could break during operation. In addition, some bolt lots did not receive sufficient curing of the e-coat which could result in low torque values and low hardness. The bolts could loosen and fall off during operation. On June 09, 2015 General Motors announced that they will be asking a small number of 2015 Cadillac ATS and CTS owners to return to their dealerships for repairs. According to reports filed with the NHTSA, the bracket between the brake pedal assembly and the rod that actuates the vehicle service brakes may have been fractured during manufacturing. Mercedes-Benz have identified a defect that will add another one thousand three hundred and thirty five 2015 Sprinter 2500 and Sprinter 3500, 4 cylinder diesel engine vehicles to recall 14V-764.

According to the defect report, the chain tensioner gasket may have experienced variations in material tolerance during production. The affected gaskets could settle and affect the pretensioning force. Over time this may lead to loosening of the chain tensioner and leaks from the engine gasket seal. Leakage of engine oil on the road could pose a threat to following traffic and could result in a seized engine. Oil leakage in the presence of an ignition source could also increase the risk of a potential fire. Continue reading

Mitsubishi has launched two separate safety campaigns affecting certain Lancer and Outlander vehicles manufactured between 2009-2011.

Safety Campaign 15V-232 (SR-15-002): An inappropriate manufacturing process of certain electrical parts within the ETACS ECU may result in a high electrical resistance and unstable voltage within the system. Loss of headlights, windshield wipers, and tail lights could result, reducing drivers visibility, and increasing the risk of an accident. Drivers will be warned of an ETACS malfunction through an illuminating engine and/or brake warning lamp. Continue reading

Volkswagen will be contacting the owners of certain 2015 Audi a VW vehicles about a manufacturing error affecting certain components within the fuel pump. Contamination due to improper nickel plating of these components may cause excessive pump friction and eventual pump failure. If the pump becomes inoperative because of this condition, it may result in a no start condition or a stall while driving. Nissan will be asking owners of certain 2014 Nissan Rogue crossover vehicles to return to their dealership for a problem that could result in stalling and a no start condition. According to the defect report, nickel plating from the fuel pump casing/cover may detach due to fuel flow, vibration, and pressure. These particles could move into the gap between the impeller and casing/cover, causing the impeller to stop rotating and the fuel pump to stop working. The number of 2014 Rogue vehicles affected by this problem is approximately 76,242. Continue reading

Certain Toyota Camry, Highlander, and RAV4 vehicles equipped with an electric power steering (EPS) System could experience loss of steering assist due to a manufacturing error. According to reports, a resistor on the EPS electronic control unit (ECU) may have been damaged during the manufacturing process. Over time, resistance may become high enough for the ECU to detect an abnormal current in the circuit. The problem may result in an illumining instrument panel warning light and the vehicle entering fail safe mode, suspending power steering assist. Loss of power steering assist results in increased steering effort during low speeds, increasing the risk of an accident. Continue reading
