2014 Hyundai Tucson Airbag Safety Problem
Certain 2011-2014 Hyundai Tucson vehicle may be affected by a manufacturing problem that could lead to the drivers side airbag inadvertently deploying or not deploy at all during an accident.
According to reports filed with the NHTSA, during assembly, it is possible that the bolts attaching the driver’s airbag module to the steering wheel assembly were not properly torqued. Over time, the bolts could loosen causing a rattling noise and could eventually detach from the steering wheel completely. There have been no reports of accidents or injury because of the problem. Honda is encouraging owners of certain 2014 Odyssey minivans to bring their vehicles in for repairs because of an electrical problem that could result in the passengers side airbag not deploying during an accident. Toyota Illuminating Airbag Warning Lights
Drivers of certain Toyota and Pontiac vehicles could experience an airbag safety defect that could result in the airbag becoming inoperable. According to reports filed with the NHTSA, the steering column in these vehicles contain a spiral cable assembly which contains the electrical connections to the driver’s airbag module. When the steering wheel is turned, the cable could contact a small point of the retainer and become damaged. The airbag could become deactivated causing it not to deploy during an accident. Nissan / Infiniti Airbag Classification Problem
An investigation has lead Nissan to identify a problem in certain Nissan and Infiniti vehicles, where the passenger air bag did not deploy and the air bag status light was not illuminated. The investigation uncovered a problem in which the Occupant Classification System (OCS) classified the seat as empty even though it was occupied. Nissan will be sending notices to owners with instructions on how to get their vehicles repaired. Continue reading
