Porsche will be contacting a small number of 2015 918 Spyder owners about an electrical problem affecting the engine radiator fan. It is possible that the wiring harness for the left rear fan, located in the engine compartment, could make contact with a heat insulation plate. If the wires become damaged, an electrical short could result in a vehicle malfunction and a potential fire.

Owners receiving defect notices will be asked to return to their dealerships to have the wiring harness inspected. The harness will be secured to a coolant tube using additional ties and any wiring found damaged will be repaired or replaced as necessary. Owners wanting more information about the problem can contact Porsche customer service at 1-800-767-7243. Porche’s number for this recall is AF05 and the NHTSA campaign number is 15V-335.

(Note: The wiring harness could short and result in a fire even when the vehicle is unattended. As a precaution, owners are advised to park outside until the remedy has been made.)
