Honda Motor Co. have determined that a potential defect relating to vehicle safety could exist in the rocker arm shaft retaining bolt of certain 2013 Honda CB motorcycles. The problem could result in reduced engine power and/or a stall which could increase the chance of an accident. The NHTSA campaign number is 14V-056.

The motorcycles affected by this problem include:

During manufacture of the rocker arm shaft retaining bolts, certain lots may have received an unapproved coating that affects bolt retention after engine assembly. The bolt could loosen during operation resulting in a slow leak of engine oil. The bolt could come out of the cylinder head entirely, allowing the rocker arm shaft to migrate out of its bore and no longer support the rocker arm. Drivers could experience a reduction in engine power and the potential for a stall.

Owners of the affected vehicles will be asked to take their motorcycle to a Honda motorcycle dealer to have the rocker arm retaining bolt replaced. For more information about the problem, owners can contact Honda Customer Service at 1-866-784-1870.
