2020 Jeep Wrangler Steering Vibration & Front End Noise

Chrysler will be notifying the owners of certain 2020 Jeep Wrangler SUVs because of a safety problem affecting the suspension in their vehicles.

According to the defect report, the left side lower control arm bracket may have been out of position during the welding process. This off location weld is weak and could break, allowing the lower control arm to separate from the axle. If this happens, the driver could experience a loss of vehicle control and/or the lower control arm bracket may separate completely, resulting in dangerous road debris. Prior to compete separation of the bracket from the axle, the driver may experience a front end noise or a steering vibration.

Those receiving notices will be asked to return to their dealers to have the front axle inspected and replaced as necessary. Chrysler’s number for this recall is W01 and the NHTSA campaign number is 20V-042.

2014-2019 Ram 1500 Potential Engine Fire

Chrysler will be contacting the owners of certain 2014-2019 Ram 1500 and 1500 Classic Pickup trucks equipped with 3.0L Eco Diesel engines because of a vehicle safety problem.

According to the defect report, the Exhaust Gas Re-circulation (EGR) coolers are susceptible to thermal fatigue and could crack over time. Th crack could allow pre-heated vaporized coolant to enter the EGR system and could combust inside the intake manifold, causing a vehicle fire. Drivers may be alerted there is a problem through a noticeable loss of coolant, lack of heater function and potentially a Malfunction Indicator Lamp.

Owners receiving notices will be asked to return to their dealerships to have the EGR cooler replaced. Dealers will also inspect and replace the intake manifold as necessary. Chrysler’s number for this recall is VB1 and the NHTSA campaign number is 19V-757.

The Cherokee is a line of vehicles sold by Jeep, originally as a variant of the popular Wagoneer. The Cherokee has evolved from a full-size SUV to one of the first compact SUVs and eventually into its current form as a crossover SUV. Alternator Failure 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee – Dimming headlights, accessory issues and a battery light warning are signs that your alternator may be dying. A bad alternator will drain your battery fast, so it will no longer be able to produce a spark to power the engine. Most of the time, replacing an alternator is relatively affordable, but a stall without warning could increase the risk of a crash.

Transmission Defect – There is a problem with the transmission on a number of newer Jeep Cherokee models. The transmission will unexpectedly shift into neutral, shift roughly or completely fail. Improper treatment of the halfshaft assembly, insufficient crimps in the transmission wire harness and software errors are the main causes depending on the model year.

Reduced Braking 2019 Jeep Cherokee – Insufficient coating of the rear brake-caliper pistons could cause gas pockets to form, reducing rear brake performance. According to the defect report, although brake function would remain, the stopping distances may be significantly increased.

2018-2019 Jeep Wrangler Front End Noise

Chrysler will be contacting the owners of certain 2018-2019 Jeep Wrangler’s regarding a problem with the welds on the front track bar bracket. An out of specification weld could result in the bracket separating from the frame. Before complete separation, drivers may experience front end noises, an off center steering wheel position, a “Service Electronic Stability Control” message and light, on the dashboard cluster.

Those receiving notices will be asked to return to their dealers to have the track bar bracket welds inspected and repaired as necessary. Chrysler Cruise Control May Not Disengage

Chrysler will be contacting the owners of certain 2014-2016 Chrysler 300, 2014-2016, 2018 Dodge Challenger and 2014-2016 Dodge Charger cars regarding a problem affecting the cruise control system.

According to the defect report, the Mopar Stage 1 Kit Performance Packages Powertrain Control Modules (PCM) and Demon Crate PCM in these vehicles could have a defect that may prevent the cruise control system from disengaging. If there is a short circuit within the vehicle’s wiring while the cruise control is being used, the driver may not be able to shut off the cruise control either by depressing the brake pedal or manually turning the system off . During a short, the driver may be alerted through multiple warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel. If the vehicle continues to maintain speed or start to accelerate, the driver should shift to neutral and/or use the brakes to slow the vehicle and bring it to a stop.

2017 Jeep Renegade Defective Oil Pump / Balance Shaft Module

Chrysler will be asking a small number of 2017 Jeep Renegade owners to return to their dealers because their vehicles are suspect to have a defective oil pump / balance shaft module (BSM). According to the defect report, these vehicles may have been manufactured with a cracked oil pump housing that could propagate throughout the housing and cause the oil pump to fail. Drivers will receive no warning of a problem except that the engine may not run optimally just prior to an engine stall.

Owners receiving notices will be asked to return to their dealers to have the oil pump inspected for its production information and replace the BSM as necessary. Chrysler’s number for this recall is U18 and the NHTSA campaign number is 18V-131.

Dodge Caravan – Jeep Wrangler Brake Warning

Chrysler will be contacting the owners of certain 2017 Dodge Caravan and 2017 Jeep Wrangler vehicles because of a problem that could increase the chance of a crash. According to the NHTSA defect report, the brake switches in these automobiles are more likely to malfunction, causing the rear brake lamps to continuously illuminate and allowing the transmission to be shifted out of “Park” without the brake pedal being depressed.

Drivers will be alerted of a problem through a illuminated malfunction indicator lamp, an audible warning chime and brake lights that continuously illuminate.

2018 Jeep Compass Loose Airbag Inflator Mount

Chrysler will be contacting the owners of certain 2018 Jeep Compass vehicles regarding a manufacturing problem affecting the passenger air bag (PAB). According to the defect report, certain PAB inflator mounting nuts withing the module assembly may have not been sufficiently tightened and could become dangerous projectile during an airbag deployment.

Those receiving notices will be asked to return to their dealer to have the passenger airbag module assembly replaced.
