Mercedes-Benz will be asking approximately 147, 000 C-Class and E-Class owners to return their vehicles to an approved dealer to repair a safety problem. Due to a cosmetic design change to the rubber seal mounted on the top edge of the secondary bulkhead in the engine compartment, the seal may not adhere correctly. The seal may temporarily stick to the engine hood when it is open and drop into the area between the engine ant the secondary bulkhead. The loose end could contact parts of the exhaust system, potentially causing a fire. Continue reading

2012 Mercedes-Benz California Lemon Law Buyback For Safety Defects
Two years after purchasing his 2012 Mercedes-Benz ML350 in March 2012, the owner started to experience problems that the manufacturer was unable to fix. Defective suspension, Airmatic system, and struts caused the vehicle to lean 1.5 inches lower on the right hand side making it difficult to handle. He had given his dealer two (2) opportunities to repair the defects which resulted in the ML350 being out of service for over 35 days. Mercedes-Benz C-Class Loss Of Steering At Low Speeds
Daimler AG will be asking owners of some 2015 Mercedes-Benz C300 and C400 sedans to return their vehicles to a Mercedes approved repair facility to have the steering system inspected for a manufacturing error that could result in loss of steering control. According to reports filed with the NHTSA, an improper assembly procedure could result in the steering coupling interlock mechanism not being locked in place. The sliding shaft could become disengaged from the coupling as the result of vibrations, steering thrust, or load feedback from the road surface. If the shaft becomes disengaged the driver may experience noises, steering backlash, and/or loss of steering control. Continue reading

2011 Mercedes Benz C-Class Tail Light Failure
Certain 2008-2011 Mercedes-Benz C-Class vehicles could experience taillight failure as a result of an electrical problem with the tail light ground pin connector. The automobile manufacturer and the NHTSA launched an investigation into the lighting problem in August 2013 after receiving twenty one complaints from customers who say they experienced a loss of one or more rear lamp assemblies and experienced melted connectors that resulted in smoke and fires in the trunk. 2013 Mercedes SL Airbag Classification Problem
A limited number to Mercedes Benz SL-Class vehicles manufactured between January 16, 2013 to April 30, 2013 may be equipped with an Occupant Classification System (OCS) that does not detect a passenger or child seat in the passenger position.
