Honda will be recalling some 2009-2011 Pilot vehicles for seat belts that could detach from the anchor webbing. According to Honda, there is a possibility that the stitching securing the end of the driver and front passenger lap section may have missing or incomplete stitching. Honda dealers will inspect and replace defected belts free of charge to the customer. Owners wanting more information on the recall can contact Honda at 1-800-999-1009.

Honda has announced two recalls that will affect some 2006 Honda CR-V crossover vehicles and some 2011 CR-Z sport hybrid coupes.

Honda will be recalling over 80,000 2006 CR-V crossover vehicles in the U.S. to replace the power window master switch. The problem is being blamed on accumulated residue from interior cleaners which can cause the electrical contacts on the switch to degrade. The increased electrical resistance of the contacts could pose a potential fire hazard. Dealers will replace the switch with one that cannot be affected by interior cleaners.

Honda will also be recalling certain 2011 CR-Z sport hybrid coupes to update the software that controls the hybrid electric motor on some manual transmission vehicles. When the gasoline engine has stalled, the battery is in a low state of charge, and the transmission is in gear, it is possible for the electric motor to rotate in the opposite direction. If the driver does not engage the brakes completely, the vehicle could roll back. A software update will be added to correct the problem.

Honda has issued a recall for certain vehicles built between July 2004 to August 2010 for a problem within the transmission. The recall is being blamed on the outer ring of secondary shaft bearings in the transmission, breaking under certain driving conditions. The broken parts could become wedged in between the transmission idle gear and the electronic sensor housing within the transmission. The driver may experience an abnormal noise, the malfunction indicator light will turn on, the engine may stall, and/or the vehicle could roll away when in “park”. Owners wanting more information can contact Honda customer service at 1-800-999-1009. The vehicles involved in the recall include:

Consumer Reports has always been a big fan of the Honda Civic, but as the new 2012 models roll of the assembly line, negative reviews may hurt the sales of one of the most popular cars in America. The Civic, usually ranking number one, fell to second last out of 12 compact cars. Consumer Reports found the 2012 Civic model to be less agile with lower interior quality than previous models. Testers also found that the vehicle suffers from a rough ride, long stopping distances and pronounced road noise. A full report of the top 12 cars will be in their upcoming September issue

Honda is recalling certain ST1300 motorcycles because they could experience a loss of brakes. When the rear suspension of the motorcycle is repeatedly bottomed out, the rear brake reservoir hose may become damaged leading to a brake fluid leak. The rider will experience a loss of rear brake performance and could eventually lose braking power completely. The motorcycles involved in this recall include:

Honda has announced a recall for certain 2012 Civic 2 door and 4 door vehicles, to repair a possible fuel leak. The suspect vehicles, manufactured between April 21, 2011 through May 2, 2011, may have been manufactured with a misaligned o-ring in the fuel feed line allowing a small amount of fuel to seep through. Because many of the vehicles have not been sold yet, it is estimated that the recall will affect a little over 1,150 Civic owners. Honda will be sending out recall notices this month and urge owners to contact Honda at 1-800-999-1009 if they have any questions.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has opened up an investigation into Honda’s 2002-2004 CR-V models. There have been 12 reports from consumers alleging that the low beam head lights stopped working at the same time. Several of the complaints reported that the headlight switch and its wiring harness connector needed to be replaced due to overheating damage.

Last September, the NHTSA opened up an investigation for similar problems with Honda’s 2007-2008 Fit vehicles. In December, the investigation lead to a recall. The problem was blamed on an error during installation where the wires were pulled tighter than indended. After repeated use of the headlight switch, a terminal on the switch could become worn leading to the oxidation and low conductivity.

Honda will be recalling almost 20,000 2011 Civic vehicles to replace the fuel pump module inside the tank. It was found that during assembly, the roll over valve inside some fuel pump modules could have been damaged. In a rollover, the cracked valve could allow fuel leakage from the tank to the evaporative emissions canister. Owners wanting more information about the recall can call 1-800-999-1009 and selecting option 4, or go to www.recalls.honda.com.
