General Motors has announced two safety defects involving certain 2015 Chevrolet Corvette sports cars. Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) have determined that a safety defect exists in certain cars and crossover SUV’s equipped with 4B1 engines. after an investigation into complaints of worn pulley’s found during regular inspections.
Due to an inappropriate material used to manufacture the drive belt, the resin pulley could wear obliquely. If the vehicle continues to be driven under these conditions, the belt could become damaged and detach completely. (If this happens, drivers will be alerted by an engine warning lamp illumination.) Drive belt detachment may result in depletion of the battery and an overheated engine which could cause a stall. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is urging owners of certain BMW, Chrysler, Ford, General Motors, Honda, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Subaru, and Toyota vehicles to take immediate action and replace defective Takata airbags. Vehicle owners receiving regional recalls are especially urged to get the problem taken care of, as consistent hot and humid conditions are suspect to intensify the problem. These areas include: Florida, Puerto Rico, areas in Texas near the Gulf of Mexico, Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, Louisiana, Guam, as well as Guam, Saipan, American Samoa, Virgin Islands and Hawaii.
