This 9999 BMW ACC. SIDE CASE R 1300 GS recall affects the EQUIPMENT Manufactured by BMW of North America, LLC
Description Of Defect
BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain BMW motorcycle dealer accessory side cases, designed to fit R1300 GS motorcycles, with part number: 77 41 9 444 361/362. The side case latch hooks may not snap properly into the lock, which can result in the case lid opening, and possibly detaching from the motorcycle.
Conseqence Of Defect
A side case lid that detaches or the case contents that fall out, can create a road hazard and increase the risk of a crash.
Corrective Action
Dealers will repair the locking mechanism and hinges of the side cases, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 20, 2024. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.
