{"id":9521,"date":"2022-11-08T16:29:10","date_gmt":"2022-11-08T20:29:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.calemonlaw.com\/blog\/?p=9521"},"modified":"2022-11-08T16:39:08","modified_gmt":"2022-11-08T20:39:08","slug":"volvo-phevs-could-experience-loss-of-power-and-will-not-restart","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.calemonlaw.com\/blog\/?p=9521","title":{"rendered":"Volvo PHEVs Could Experience Loss Of Power And Will Not Restart"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Some 2022-2023 Volvo PHEV vehicles could experience a loss of drive power because of a software error that may prevent the combustion engine from starting.  Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed in December.<\/p>\n<p>Volvo first became aware of the problem after receiving complaints of a vehicle no start condition in several Volvo models.  (A low coolant flow issue was determined to be a potential cause.)  Further investigation found that the estimated cooling flow on the electrical drive (ED) cooling circuit was set to zero when max cooling was requested.  The problem was caused by faulty software logic.  When the estimated cooling flow is set to zero the inverter generator module will set available torque to zero and the combustion engine will not start.<\/p>\n<p>If the issue occurs the driver will experience a warning message in dim that &#8220;<strong>Propulsion System Service is Required<\/strong>&#8220;, at start.  The vehicle will continue to start and drive on electric propulsion until a second warning appears &#8211; &#8220;<strong>Turtle in DIM and speed limited to 75 km\/h<\/strong>&#8220;. If the driver ignores these visual and mechanical warnings, the vehicle will display \u201cstop safely\u201d and lose electric propulsion as the high voltage battery is depleted. <\/p>\n<h4 style=\"padding-top:15px; width=500px; margin-right:100px;\">The vehicles affected include:<\/h4>\n<table class=\"table table-striped\" style=\"margin-top: 30px;\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td>2022-2023 Volvo S60<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>2022-2023 Volvo S90<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>2022-2023 Volvo V60<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>2022-2023 Volvo XC60<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>2022-2023 Volvo XC90<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>The problem will be corrected through a ECM software update.
