The affected vehicles have a driveshaft that may have been inadequately welded and could fracture.  If the driveshaft breaks, drive torque will no longer be transmitted to the rear wheels, resulting in a loss of propulsion. <!--more--> <\/p>\n<p>Dealers will inspect the driveshaft and replace it as necessary.  Owners wanting more information about the defect are asked to contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.
