Volkswagen will pay up to $15 billion in consumer compensation with approximately $10 billion going to owners who can have their vehicles repaired or bought back. A buyback of cars with 3.0-liter engines would mean repurchasing luxury vehicles such as Audi\u2019s A8 sedan and Q7 sports utility vehicle, as well as Porsche Cayenne SUVs. The automaker said last month that a fix for those premium cars was near but, the California Air Resources Board has rejected VW\u2019s recall plan affecting certain V6 diesel vehicles, calling the proposal incomplete and deficient.
