Chrysler Group LLC will be asking owners of certain 2014 RAM ProMaster cargo vans to take their vehicles to the nearest manufacturer approved repair facility to fix a problem that could result in uncontrolled acceleration. The recall comes after an investigation into a stuck accelerator pedal discovered during third party testing in December 2013. <\/p>\n
Some 2014 RAM ProMaster vehicles could experience a stuck accelerator pedal in the wide open throttle (WOT) position as a result of the driver applying an angled downward force to the pedal. Chrysler has determined that the condition is the result of a combination of a small diameter and low friction finish on the stopper and the allowance of lateral deflection while the pedal is depressed. (Note: These vehicles are equipped with a brake override system that will brake the vehicle and enable the driver to slow, stop, and turn off the vehicle safely.) <\/p>\n
Chrysler is unaware of any accidents or injuries associated with this issue, but a stuck accelerator pedal could result in uncontrolled acceleration and an increased risk of an accident. Chrysler dealers will remedy the problem by replacing the accelerator pedal topper with a larger on. Owners wanting more information about the problem can contact Chrysler at 1-800-853-1403.
