During a routine manufacturing inspection of certain Avalon, Camry, and Corolla cars, Toyota found a number of the vehicles in which the wiper function would become inoperative. After an investigation, Toyota has identified a problem with the windshield wiper switch and will be asking owners to take their vehicles into their nearest Toyota repair facility to have the problem fixed. Approximately 9,795 vehicles could be affected by this problem.<\/p>\n
According to the recall report, it was determined that certain contacts on the wiper switch terminal may have been manufactured to the incorrect specifications. The problem could result in a short between the battery and ground contacts when the wiper switch is moved from the \u201cOff\u201d to the \u201cMist\u201d position. The short could cause the wipers to unexpectedly stop working leaving the driver with reduced visibility. The vehicles affected by the problem include:<\/p>\n
