Honda is recalling certain model year 2004-2008 Acura TSX vehicles originally sold in or currently registered in states that use corrosive materials for deicing. According to Honda, moisture and chemicals used to melt snow and ice can be brought into the vehicle by the driver’s footwear, saturating the floor carpet. Saturated floor carpeting contacting the vehicle’s engine control unit (ECU) could resulting in corrosion damage to the unit. The problem could cause the engine to stall, increasing the risk of an accident. Anyone receiving a recall notice will be asked to take their vehicles to an Acura dealer to have the ECU inspected and replaced as necessary. All vehicles will be fitted with a waterproof covering for the ECU. For more information about the problem, owners can contact Acura Client Relations at 1-800-382-2238 and select option 4 or go to www.recalls.acura.com.
