Toyota will be asking approximately eleven thousand 2012-2013 Scion iQ sub-compact vehicle owners to bring in their vehicles for a problem that could result in the passenger airbags not deploying properly. According to Toyota, the front passenger Occupant Classification System (OCS) weight sensor cables could become damaged when the passenger seat is moved forward and aft. The damaged wiring could result in the airbags system and the seat belt pretensioner to not function properly, leaving the passenger unprotected during an accident. Toyota will inspect and replace any damaged harnesses, and will install a protective cover over the cables to prevent future damage. Owners wanting more information about the problem can contact Toyota at 1-866-707-2466.
